Sometimes the Sun

Sometimes the sun on a warm
Autumn afternoon
Can make such an impression,
Like you feel it’s force,
It’s difficult to believe it’s about
90,000,000 miles away.

You think God must have pushed it
At least a few thousand miles closer for the day,
Perhaps with His elbow while He was in bed,
And you’re made to feel like a slightly startled ant
Under His bedside lamp.
